Bach would love this. What is it if not counterpoint? Repeated themes, sequences, it's all there, once you get past the polytonality thing.
Anyway, too often now our remix culture wants to keep things in tempo, in key, owned and aligned, and overlooks the beauty of an accidental collage. Unscheduled overlaps allow for synchronicity and serendipity. Rigidity executes merely the composer's intent, after all.
It's a shame if a piece never flies beyond the composer's horizon.
